Theatre Royal

The Theatre Royal (Haymarket) dates back to the early eighteenth century, but the present building was completed in 1821 and is one of Britain’s most attractive theatres.

Extensively and opulently refurbished in 1994, this is a theatre in the truest sense and it offers a program of classical and thought provoking productions, usually featuring the more credible wing of the acting fraternity.

The theatre is also said to have a resident ghost, a friend of Charles Dickens called Buckstone.

The theatre is close to Trafalgar Square.

For the tourist friendly and highly accessible musicals and movie adaptations, other theatres in the area are better options.

Local tube station options include Piccadilly Circus, Charing Cross and Leicester Square.
