London Weekend Break
The Science Museum
The London Science Museum is open seven days a week and there is free entry to the museum, although some charges are levied if you want to experience certain features or see specific exhibits.
The Science Museum is subdivided into a number of galleries, each with a separate theme, and many of these galleries offer some kind of hands on or interactive experience.
Examples of some of these galleries include, Flight, health, the weather and medicine, but there are many more.
The museum also sees itself as a vehicle for learning and education and many galleries are geared towards this objective.
Personally I find this museum slightly condescending and when visiting it on a school trip (as a child) I wished that the time spent here could have been spent at the Natural History Museum instead. That however is just one opinion and the Science museum is visited by huge numbers of people who clearly have a very different view.
The science museum has a shop, eating and drinking facilities and cleverly, certain galleries cater more directly for specific age groups.
Both the Natural History and Victoria and Albert Museums are very near by and the closest tube station is South Kensington. Because all three museums are (at least partially) free you can hop around from one to the next and then go back to your favourite.
