London Weekend Break

Piccadilly Circus

Piccadilly Circus is one of the more famous meeting points in London and it takes the form of a large roundabout with a giant statue of Eros at its heart.

In reality Piccadilly Circus is nothing more than the junction of several popular streets, but with its location providing easy access to so many of London's hotspots it has literally become a landmark in itself.

Piccadilly Circus comes to life at night with an abundance of neon signs promoting many of the businesses and complexes in the area. These range from the Planet Hollywood bar to the Trocadero entertainment building enclosing gaming areas and cinema screens.

Probably the best reason for Piccadilly Circus being so popular is the fact that it is a central point between the popular shopping area of Piccadilly and many other zones.

Regents Street's theatre district of Shaftesbury Avenue, Leicester Square and Coventry Street are all served from Piccadilly Circus and this makes it an important through affair and meeting spot. It also means that it is unlikely that you will visit London without passing through this hive of traffic and activity.

There is an pedestrian underpass that enables you to get to and from the central roundabout area to the connecting streets without the need to risk life and limb by attempting to cross the heavily trafficked roads that encircle it.
