London Weekend Break
Travelling to London by coach, car, train or plane
Getting to London can definitely benefit from some advanced planning and driving there by car is just one option. Most of the UK's cities not only have a direct rail link, but also a coach station offering return tickets to London from a large selection of destinations. These coaches are air conditioned and some even have waitress service. They make a cheap and stress free alternative to driving.
Rail and air transport also take the stress out of the journey and off peak rail tickets can be very good value. Again, depending on the day of the week and the time of travel, it can be possible to get a return flight to Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted airport from as little as £29.
Selecting an alternative to the car not only removes the hassle of driving and finding your hotel, but also avoids the London congestion charge zone which is due for a further expansion. The charge currently stands at £8.00 if you pay by midnight the same day and £10 if you pay the following day. There are large fines for those who fail to pay.
