London Weekend Break
London break
If you are thinking about taking a London break , either to celebrate an event like a birthday or anniversary, or because you want to explore the city’s heritage or do some top brand shopping, you will not be disappointed.
London has established itself as one of the world’s premier capital cities in the areas of business, culture, tourism and customer care and very few visitors to this large metropolitan and cosmopolitan city leave disappointed, whatever their visiting motivations.
If your reasons for taking a break in London are purely recreational, you will find yourself in one of the biggest manmade theme parks on the planet. Many of the sights that tourists visit in London were never designed to be places to visit. They were once civic structures, castles, galleries for the privileged, or structures intended for the defence of the realm. Today these same buildings have a historic and cultural significance that makes them major tourist attractions and that is one of the reasons for London’s popularity as a short break holiday city.
The things that you can see and do in London are almost unlimited. There is great dining and restaurants, the list of sightseeing attractions are almost unlimited and London’s shopping is arguably the best in the world. One thing that you can guarantee is that you will never be short of something to do and this even holds true if the weather is wet and cold. With attractions like the Natural History Museum, the London Planetarium, the Tate Modern, and the London Dungeon there is always a warm and dry attraction that will offer entertainment (and in some cases education) for hours at a time.
London is also a twenty four hour city. Any London break can extend well into the late evening or early morning. For the young there are clubs of every description and for those who are older, or want more refinement, there are the West End plays and musicals.
Dining and eating out can be a memorable experience if you plan to take a London break. There are many different cuisines and many different restaurants and they cover everything from casual and economic to formal and expensive. Planning what you want to eat in advance and coming up with a short list of potential restaurants will save you time once you are in the city.
getting from one location to another is yet another area where London scores top marks. London’s taxi cabs are world famous, but the bus service and underground Tube network make short work of getting from A to B. And then there are the hop on and hop off sightseeing buses and river boats. These come with commentaries and sightseeing information and they are an ideal way to see a lot in a short period of time.
What else!
The general rule is that you think of it and London will most probably have it. You can visit international icons like Tower Bridge and St. Pauls Cathedral, or you can relax in one of the massive city parks like Regents Park. Ultimately a London break can be whatever you want it to be and you can enjoy it at any pace, fast or slow.
