London Weekend Break
The Bank of England and its Museum
The Bank of England is on Threadneedle Street and was foundered in 1694. It acts as the bank of the British government and has considerable influence over the British economy.
Of interest to the tourist is the bank’s museum. It covers an area of approximately one thousand square metres and has a “mock up” of an eighteenth century stock office.
You can also see collections of the differing currencies that have been circulated in the United Kingdom and use interactive displays to explore the history of the bank, finance and its effects on Britain’s financial history.
This museum is definitely not for everyone, but has a role in the life of London and Great Britain and admission is free.
