Queen Victoria Memorial

Built in the first decade of the twentieth century and commissioned by Edward VII, this outstanding memorial sits directly in front of Buckingham Palace.

It took five years to complete and by the time it was finished Edward had himself passed on from this life.

The monument's designer was Aston Webb and the imposing stone part of the structure is composed of no less than 2,300 tons of marble.

In addition to being an important monument in its own right, the Queen Victoria Memorial is also the spot from which many tourists choose to photograph Buckingham Palace.

The nearest tube station is St. James’ Park.
