London Weekend Break
The National Gallery
The National Gallery was built between 1832 and 1838 and is located directly adjacent to Trafalgar Square in the centre of London.
The gallery is home to one of Europe’s greatest art collections and admission is free to all.
The National gallery has two collections, the first is a permanent collection that comprises examples of Western European art from 1250 ad onwards and includes work by Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, Goya, Rembrandt, Monet, Turner and many more iconic artists.
The second collection is made up from current exhibits which may be on loan or on tour and details of these collections change continually. You will need to consult the National Gallery for specific details of these displays.
Guided tours can be arranged and for those in need of some information, but wanting an independent exploration of the gallery, audio tape tours are also available.
The National gallery has an education program and there is a shop on site.
The closest tube stations are Charing Cross and Leicester Square.
