London Weekend Break

Hyde Park Gate

Somewhat grander than the typical gate, Hyde Park Gate is really called "Hyde Park Screen" and was designed to be the Royal entry (from Buckingham Palace) into Hyde Park itself.

Composed of three main archways, each connected by columns, it is the central arch that is the most dominant.

Built of white Portland stone in 1920 to a design by Decimus Burton, this famous landmark is continually passed under, but not always noticed by the many tourists heading for Buckingham Palace.

Several other monuments and parks are in the area including St. James' Park and Buckingham Palace.

The nearest tube station is Hyde Park.
